LC-OMEGA is HMT's untargeted lipid and lipophilic metabolite platform, using high-resolution LC-MS to profile the hydrophobic complement of the metabolome. Affinity selection removes large diacyl and triacyl glycerides to enable deeper interrogation of the lipidome — providing hundreds of lipid species, phytochemicals, and xenobiotics per sample.

LC-OMEGA uses the same high-sensitivity Orbitrap MS platform as OMEGA Scan and is designed as the natural companion to CE-MS-based polar metabolite profiling. Together, OMEGA Scan + LC-OMEGA covers both the polar and lipophilic metabolome for the broadest possible biochemical view.

LC-OMEGA profiles lipophilic metabolites including glycerophospholipids, sphingolipids, bile acids, fatty acids, sterols, fat-soluble vitamins, polyphenols, and xenobiotics. Affinity-based lipid selection is applied to reduce interference from abundant diacyl/triacyl glycerides and improve detection of lower-abundance species.

For studies requiring the deepest possible metabolomic coverage, LC-OMEGA is combined with OMEGA Scan as part of the OMEGA2-353 package — delivering over 1,000 annotated metabolites from both polar and lipid space in a single study. This combination is recommended for biomarker discovery, clinical cohort profiling, and comprehensive compositional analysis of complex biological matrices.
